Chapter 5
Jeffery looked over the specs heâd been given to set up the dish he was installing on one of the downtown buildings the family owned. They were planning to use the building as a centralized location for Garfield and Sable to work from, and heâd been asked to make sure they had a good, secure network. Honestly, heâd rather be having his nails clipped as his wolf than to work on something so mundane as a dish network.
âYou know that you can just do that with the magic that you have.â He nearly fell backward off the building when Storm appeared before him. He growled at her and told her to be careful next time. âIâm sorry. You were feeling so sorry for yourself that I could have knocked you off anyway, and youâd not noticed. Why are you bothering with the actual work of this when all you need to do is just make it work magically. It would more than likely be more secure too.â
âI guess I never thought about it.â He sat back on his butt and looked at Storm. âI have a couple of questions for you. You donât have to tell me if itâs some kind of rule you canât break but do I have a mate out there too? The reason that I ask is, I donâtââ
âYes, you all have mates. And if you were going to tell me that you donât want one, then tough shit. Sheâs coming, and youâll love her.â He laughed. âThatâs not what you were going to say, is it? Iâve been off the handle all day. I need a distraction so I can think about the issue that Iâm having with someone in town stealing. So what was it you were going to say you didnât want?â
âI donât want to be not ready. I know I have a home that is, for the most part, not furnished. I never saw a need for it before as I spend most of my time working. Also, itâs a big flipping house, in the event you didnât know, and it would take me a while to get my shit together and fill it.â She asked him why he didnât just fill it with things he found. âI donât really socialize all that much. My idea of a fun Saturday night is to order a pizza, watch something on television, then go to bed. As I said, not much of a socializer. I know that I could easily buy things that I want online. But that seems so cold to me. I was perhaps wondering if you or one of the other women could help me out with that.â
âYou mean to fill out your home for another woman that will more than likely want her own things? Sure, let us get right on that for you.â He told her she didnât need to be nasty. âNo. Youâre right. I didnât. Sorry. Maybe if I tell you my issue, you can help me.
